Police: 74-year-old stabs 2 during robbery at antique store
A 74-year-old Anoka man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing two people and spraying a chemical irritant at police during an attempted robbery at an antique store in North St. Paul.
The incident happened at about 11:49 a.m. on Thursday, March 18. North St. Paul police responded to a shop on the 2500 block of 7th Avenue and when they got there bystanders pointed to the suspect, who was attempting to flee on foot.
"The male suspect sprayed an unknown chemical irritant at the first officer and was subsequently taken into custody when a second officer deployed a taser," the North St. Paul Police Department said.
Two people who had been stabbed were taken to Regions Hospital with possible life-threatening injuries. And an officer was taken to the hospital and was later released.
The suspect was booked into jail.
