A sex offender accused of committing another sex crime is off the streets.

According to a Facebook post from the South St. Paul Police Department, Christopher Donald Lee Blair was taken into custody Sunday. Blair is a level three sex offender who was charged with a new crime last month.

Blair is accused of raping and impregnating a developmentally challenged 12-year-old girl. He was charged in Dakota County with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in February.

Police had been looking for Blair since late that month. Authorities found him at the Aqua City Motel in Minneapolis, the Star Tribune says.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, the Minnesota BCA and Minneapolis Police Department assisted in locating Blair.

"We would like to thanks everyone for their assistance in locating Mr. Blair," the department wrote in the post.

The original story from Feb. 26 is below.

Police are asking for the public's help to locate a sex offender accused of committing a new crime.

According to a Facebook post from the South St. Paul Police Department, Christopher Donald Lee Blair, 35, is suspected of committing a new first-degree criminal sexual conduct offense.

The Star Tribune says he was charged in Dakota County last week with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with allegations that in September he raped and impregnated a South St. Paul girl who is now 12 years old.

Authorities describe Blair as a white male, 6 foot 1 inch tall, 212 pounds, with brown hair and possibly a beard or mustache. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with “Blair” on the back.

Investigators believe Blair may be driving a 2015 Grey Ford Fiesta, MN plate 115-TGV (similar to photo below).

He was released from prison in April 2015 and was registered as a Level 3 offender living in South St. Paul near Bryant Ave. and Concord St. N., according to the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Level 3 offenders are considered the most likely to reoffend.

The department says he has a history of attempted kidnapping of adult female victims. Blair has gained access to his victims in the past by approaching them in public places with a weapon. He was not known to his victims.

Authorities warn that because Blair is known to carry weapons, you should not approach him (if you spot him). Instead, call 911 immediately.
