Police are looking for this Twin Cities serial cigarette bandit

Police say he assaulted the clerks in at least five incidents.

St. Paul police are asking for help identifying a man they say keeps stealing cigarettes from convenience stores and gas stations around the Twin Cities.

Police say that over the past three weeks this man has walked into stores, asked for cartons of cigarettes, then snatched the box from the clerk and run off.

In at least five incidents, police say the suspect "assaulted clerks by pushing or punching them" as he grabbed for the cigarettes.

The suspect is described as a 30-40 year-old African American male. He's about 6-foot to 6-foot-2, medium to large build, and regularly wears a black puffy vest over a black hooded sweatshirt. He also tends to wear gloves.

There are more photos of him here.

If you have information on the man, call Sgt. Duggan at 651-266-5415.
