Police arrested an Anoka man after a nearly 13-hour standoff in Hudson, Wis., Saturday. Authorities responded to a domestic incident at a residence in downtown Hudson at 3 a.m., when a woman called to tell police her ex-boyfriend was destroying her home, the Hudson Observer reports. When she tried to call for help, the suspect took her phone, according to the Star Tribune.

Ab0ut 40 officers responded to the incident, including a K-9 unit and SWAT team. The woman reported a gun was in the house, but she was uncertain if the man knew where it was located, according to WCCO. The Hudson police knew the 28-year-old man had a history of violent behavior.

The suspect was leaving the house when police arrived, but did not obey police orders to put his hands up and get on the ground. So he went back inside, WCCO reports.

During the standoff, an emergency response team used a robot to contact the suspect, released gas and chemicals in the house and broke windows with a battering ram. Residents in nearby homes were evacuated.

The man was found hiding in the insulation in the rafters thanks to help of a police dog, the Hudson Observer reports.

He sustained a dog bite and was treated by medics. No one else was injured.

The Pioneer Press reports the suspect violated a no contact order with his girlfriend. He was out on a felony bail bond, the Star Tribune reports. Other charges are pending.
