A hotel worker in Minneapolis was injured when an attacker assaulted him with a shovel on Wednesday afternoon.

Minneapolis police spokesperson John Elder tells BMTN that the attack happened inside a workroom at the Double Tree hotel on 11th Street in downtown Minneapolis, with the victim being struck by a shovel multiple times.

Elder said the attacker appeared to have sharpened the blade of the shovel and may have been experiencing emotional issues at the time.

The victim suffered "very serious injuries," according to Elder. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.

The attacker was arrested and is facing a charge of 1st-degree aggravated assault.
