Police believe the two-year-old boy who died after being shot at a Brooklyn Center apartment on Thursday was accidentally shot by his three-year-old brother.
Brooklyn Park PD Deputy Police Chief Mark Bruley confirmed to BMTN that the boy, who turns four in less than two months, was in the apartment at the time of the shooting and it's most likely that it was he who fired the gun.
The shooting occurred Thursday morning at Huntington Place Apartments in Brooklyn park.
The boys' 20-year-old mother, her 20-year-old boyfriend and her 57-year-old grandmother were all jailed on suspicion of child endangerment, Bruley said.
They were released ahead of charges, which could come Monday or Tuesday, so that they could say goodbye to the two-year-old child in the hospital.
The mother also authorized donation for the two-year-old's organs, Bruley confirmed.
"We don’t consider them a danger to society," Bruley told the Star Tribune. “They will get charged. I just felt like on the humanity side ... it seemed like the right thing to do."
