Police: Boy, 12, stabs man after altercation at St. Paul bus stop

An altercation at a St. Paul bus stop left one individual stabbed with life-threatening injuries Sunday.

According to  St. Paul Police Department spokesperson Steve Linders, a 12-year-old boy and a 42-year-old man were involved in an altercation at around 9:00 a.m. at a Metro Transit bus stop near the Sun Ray Shopping Center. 

After the 12-year-old punched the man, the 42-year-old began to chase the boy.

The 12-year-old eventually stabbed the man in the chest, then fled the scene, police say. 

The boy was taken into custody by St. Paul and Metro Transit police near Conway Street and Pederson Street.

Police found the 42-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Regions Hospital and his condition is unknown.
