An 8-year-old boy is in the hospital with injuries after allegedly being pushed from the top of a water slide in Apple Valley on Tuesday.

Apple Valley police say the incident happened at the Apple Valley Family Aquatic Center at approximately 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, with witnesses telling investigators that the boy fell from the platform of a water slide and dropped 31 feet to the ground.

An investigation revealed that the boy was picked up by an 18-year-old male, who then pushed him over the railing. There was no interaction between the suspect and victim prior to the incident, and it's been determined that the two do not know each other.

The child was conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived and he was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The extent of his injuries are unknown.

The suspect has been arrested and will face criminal charges, Apple Valley police say.

Per BMTN policy, we will not name the suspect until charges have been filed.
