Police concerned after rash of dog poisonings in Minnesota town

Pet owners in a northern Minnesota town are on edge after a numerous reports of possible dog poisonings.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, there have been "several reports of dogs that may have been poisoned in the City of Rice Lake," which is located about 10 miles north of downtown Duluth. 

The sheriff's office has received reports of dogs getting sick without clear reasons, with at least two owners finding their dogs dead. 

"There is no clear evidence or reason for these cases," the sheriff's release says, adding that "there is no connection between the owners who have reported these incidents, nor are all the homes near one another." 

Residents are asked to stay alert for any suspicious activity and to keep a close eye on their pets. If anyone has information or sees something out of the ordinary, they're asked to call 218-336-4350
