Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect involved in an attempted robbery and shooting outside M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.

Edina police responded to the hospital parking ramp at 65th Street and France Avenue just before 9 p.m. Monday, but the suspect had fled.

The 45-year-old victim told officers what happened and provided a description of the subject. The victim was being treated at the hospital, but their condition was not released.

M Health Fairview told WCCO Tuesday that the man was discharged from the hospital in good condition Monday evening. The Star Tribune reports the victim is a doctor who lives in Eagan, but officials have not confirmed that.

The suspect is described as an Asian man in his 30s. He has shaved hair and a tattoo on the right side of his neck. At the time of the shooting, he was wearing sweatpants.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Edina Police Department at 952-826-1600.

Following the shooting, the hospital and buildings nearby were locked down for several hours while police searched for the suspect, but did not locate him. The area was reopened just before midnight Monday, police said.

"M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital is secure and is providing full service for patients in the Emergency Department. More information, as it is available, will be provided to the public via the Edina Police Department," a spokesperson with M Health Fairview said.
