Police investigating the fatal crash in Orono that killed Mack Motzko and Sam Schuneman have released more details about the driver.
The Orono Police Department issued an update on Friday following the release of laboratory results into the man behind the wheel for the Saturday, July 24 crash, which left Motzko, 20, and Schuneman, 24, dead.
The driver, a 51-year-old man, gave a blood alcohol content (BAC) reading of 0.175, more than twice the legal limit for driving in Minnesota.
Police also say he was driving at speeds of between 94 and 99 mph seconds prior to the crash. It has previously been reported that he was driving a luxury Bentley.
A complaint is set to be submitted to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, meaning criminal charges could be filed early next week.
A memorial service was held this week for Motzko, the son of Minnesota Gopher Men's Hockey head coach Bob Motzko, in St. Cloud.
Correction: An earlier version of this article mistakenly referred to Bob Motzko as the Gopher Men’s Basketball coach. He is the hockey coach.
