Police: Gunman on Metro Transit bus shoots 2 passengers, killing 1 in Minneapolis

Two passengers on a Metro Transit bus in Minneapolis were shot by a gunman who walked onto the bus, pulled the trigger and ran from the scene. 

It happened just prior to 9:30 p.m. Thursday on the 100 block of N. 9th St. in Minneapolis, just south of Target Center. According to Minneapolis Police Department, the bus stopped and a 26-year-old man got onto the bus and shot two people who were sitting down. 

One victim died at the scene and the other suffered critical injuries and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. 

The suspect fled on foot and was soon found by police on the 700 block of Nicollet Ave., where he as arrested without incident. Police recovered a gun from the suspect. 

The second victim is expected to survive, while the person killed in the shooting will be identified at a later stage by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office. 

It's unclear how many other passengers were on the bus, but no one else was injured. 

A motive for the shooting remains unknown as Minneapolis PD and Metro Transit police continue to investigate.
