Police have a suspect in UW-Stout student's death, no evidence it was a hate crime

Police say there's no evidence this was a hate crime.

Police say they have a suspect in connection with the killing of a Saudi Arabian Wisconsin-Stout student.

Hussain Saeed Alnahdi, 24, who was studying business administration at the university, died following an assault on Halloween weekend.

After investigating and conducting interviews, Menomonie police say they have a suspect. Not much information on the suspect is being released until a charging decision is made. Friday, police say they sent information from the investigation to the Dunn County District Attorney's Office for possible charges.

All we know is that the suspect isn't a UW-Stout student or a resident of Dunn County.

Not a hate crime?

Menomonie police also say they haven't found any evidence that this killing was a hate crime.

Previously, authorities were investigating that possibility.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has been offering a reward – as have some other groups – saying they were concerned this attack was made out of bias or discrimination.

The investigation is still ongoing, though. If you have any information, the police department asks that you contact Investigator Kelly Pollock at 715-231-8511.
