Police: Homeless man arrested for Minneapolis gas station killing

The shooting happened Tuesday morning.

A homeless man has been arrested in connection to a shooting that left another man dead.

Minneapolis police say the shooting was reported in the parking lot of a Speedway gas station (formerly SuperAmerica), on the 2400 block of Bloomington Avenue South in Minneapolis at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Responding officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was treated at the scene and then transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in a grave condition, where he later died.

Others involved in an altercation that led to the shooting fled the scene before officers arrived, but witness interviews and evidence from the scene led investigators to the 27-year-old suspect, who has yet to be formally charged.

The victim's identity will be released at a later date by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
