Police ID man found dead in ditch along Highway 10 on Sunday

He was found by a passerby.

Police have identified a man who was found dead in a ditch along Highway 10 on Sunday.

The body was found by a passerby at around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy. 10 and County Road 61 in Haven Township, Sherburne County.

Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott said he's been identified as Michael Maurer, 29, of no permanent address.

There is "no obvious signs of trauma," Brott said, and no foul play is suspected in his death at this time.

Investigators are currently awaiting the results of toxicology tests, which they say could offer more information as to how he died.

The investigation is ongoing, with deputies eager to hear from anyone with information on Maurer’s whereabouts in the days before his body.
