Police have released the names of two men who died in what is thought to be a murder-suicide at a home near the shores of Leech Lake earlier this month.

Cass County Sheriff officers were called to the reports of a shooting at the 8700 block of Midway Drive NW in Onigum, near Walker, Minnesota on May 12 to find a one man dead and another man wounded, who died later in hospital.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Thursday that the men have been identified as Leo Jordan, 57, and David Smith, 60, both of Walker. They both died from gunshot wounds in what police are treating as a murder-suicide incident.

"The incident appears to have been contained to these two parties at the residence and the general public is not in danger in relation to this incident," the Sheriff's Office said.

The Duluth News Tribune reports that the pair are half brothers, adding that Smith was found dead at the scene, while Jordan was airlifted to a Fargo hospital by North Memorial AirCare, where he was later pronounced dead.

WCCO reports that police continue to investigate what led up to the incident.

Valley News Live says that Sheriff Tom Burch has not revealed whether Jordan or Smith was the shooter.
