Police identify remains found in burning car as missing Rochester man
Human remains found on New Year's Eve have been identified as a man missing from Rochester since early December.
Police found a body in a burnt-out car in Byron, Minnesota on Dec. 31, and on Thursday confirmed that the remains are that of 76-year-old Uong Ong.
Ong who was last seen leaving his home on the afternoon of Dec. 3. Police confirmed that the burned vehicle belonged to Ong.
At the time he was reported missing, Ong was described by authorities as "medically vulnerable."
The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Ong's identity, but the manner of his death has not been determined at this time.
An investigation remains ongoing.
