Police are telling the public to stay away from the Maplewood Mall area as they handle an ongoing situation.

Maplewood PD said there is a "barricaded subject in the area of Maplewood Mall."

"PLEASE STAY OUT OF THE AREA," it added, saying the incident is happening near the LA Fitness parking lot.

Video shared to Twitter by Robert Stewart shows a lot of police activity in the parking lots outside the mall.

FOX 9 reports that the subject in question potentially has "access to deadly weapons."

The incident started around 5:10 p.m. when officers tried to stop an RV near White Bear Avenue and Gervais Avenue because of an outstanding warrant. The RV proceeded to drive off before officers caught up with it later.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information comes in.
