St. Paul police are investigating a homicide after a woman was found dead at an intersection in the city's West Side.

The police department tweeted just after 5 a.m. that it was called to the intersection of Hall Avenue and West Steven Street.

It was there they found a woman inside a car who had been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots at around 3 a.m.

It's the 15th homicide in St. Paul so far this year, with 2020 not yet six months old.

It means the city is well on pace to exceed the 30 homicides in 2019, which was the deadliest year for killings in St. Paul in a decade.
