Police have launched an investigation to find the person responsible for the fatal shooting of a man in St. Paul on Sunday.

The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on the 1400 block of East 6th Street, where a man was later found laying in the street with a gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police say, and so far no arrests have been made.

Police are appealing for the public's help to identify and locate a suspect in the case. The identity of the victim hasn't yet been released.

"We need anyone that has information about this case to please call us and tell us what you know," police spokesman Mike Ernster said.

Over 80 people have been shot in St. Paul this year, Ernster added, while this incident marks the city's 10th homicide in 2018.
