Police investigating cabin break-in find burglars asleep inside
Police called to a break-in at a cabin in Crow Wing County entered to find two burglars asleep inside.
A deputy was called to the property on the 26000 block of County Road 19 at 1:37 p.m. Sunday, after a cabin owner said he'd seen 2 men on the deck of his rural cabin via surveillance cameras he had on the property.
When the deputy arrived he found that the cabin had indeed been broken into, and didn't have to look far for the culprits, who were sleeping inside.
Two men, one aged 21 from Minneapolis, the other aged 25 from Crosby, were arrested for burglary.
Their vehicle was found at a neighboring property which contained several items of suspected stolen goods.
One of the men told police that they had broken into another cabin earlier, but wasn't sure where it was as he was unfamiliar with the area.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff is asking locals to check their cabins to see if they've suffered a break-in.
"This is a great example of citizens being vigilant about protecting their property”, Sheriff Scott Goddard added.
