Police investigating drive-by shooting in Woodbury

The shots were fired from a "black BMW type car.”

Authorities are looking into a drive-by shooting involving two vehicles in Woodbury this weekend.

According to a news release from the police department, it happened late Saturday afternoon in the area of Valley Creek Rd. and Valley Creek Plaza, where someone in a “black BMW type car" fired on another vehicle.

The shooter was reported to have fired five times from the suspect vehicle, which another witness described as an "Acura or BMW."

The news release says no one in the other vehicle was injured, and that the shots fired ended up striking an entrance sign for the Woodbury Village shopping center.

Officers checked the area but were unable to find the assailants. According to the release, one 911 caller said the shots came from the back passenger side of the vehicle, and that the shooter was a black male. The car was also reported to have tinted windows.

Police have not released any details on what may have led up to the shooting, or if it was a random attack.

An investigation is now underway. Anyone with information on the crime should contact the Woodbury Police Department.
