Police investigating man's death at North Minneapolis apartment

Minneapolis police found a man with "grave" injuries on the scene after responding to reports of a shooting.

Minneapolis police are investigating a homicide after reports of a shooting in North Minneapolis early Thursday morning.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers were sent to a building on the 2000 block of Emerson Avenue North at around 2:45 a.m.

Once on the scene, officers located a man with “grave” injuries inside an apartment. Officers provided medical attention until paramedics arrived, and the man was pronounced dead on the scene.

Officers reportedly canvassed the area, while investigators processed the scene. The incident is still under investigation.

The victim’s identity and cause of death have not yet been released. 

It is the 63rd homicide in Minneapolis so far in 2021. There were 82 in 2020.
