Police investigating suspicious death in Minneapolis early Wednesday morning

A woman collapsed and died in Minneapolis early Wednesday.

Minneapolis police are investigating the suspicious death of a woman early Wednesday morning.

A statement from MPD says officers responded to 222 Hennepin Ave. N. at 4:55 a.m. on the report of a medical situation. Upon arrival, officers attempted live-saving efforts on a woman but were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police learned that the woman had gone to a friend's house earlier Wednesday morning only to later complain that she didn't feel well. As she and the party that called 911 were walking to the garage to get to the hospital, she collapsed in a hallway and died.

The cause of death and identity of the victim will be announced following review by the medical examiner's office.
