Police in La Crosse are asking the public to help identity a young man who sucker punched a man in the face.

The brutal attack was caught on camera, and police have released the surveillance footage to the public in an attempt to find out who the attacker is.

"This week we are looking for the individual in the video, who attacked the victim, completely unprovoked," La Crosse PD says in a Facebook post.

The victim was arriving for work at Rudy's Drive In just before 4 a.m. Sunday when he was attacked.

"As you can see from the video, the victim is attempting to enter Rudy’s on the South side of the building, when the suspect, who is described as a younger college aged white male, wearing a grey or light blue polo shirt with a stripe across the front, khaki shorts and white Nike tennis shoes, approaches," police said.

"The suspect engages in a brief conversation with the victim, then proceeds to punch the victim, unprovoked causing the victim to fall to the ground."

Anyone who knows who the suspect is is asked to contact police at 608-789-7240.
