Police: Man arrested after meeting student in school bathroom for 'sexual acts'

It was a prearranged encounter, police say.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested after police say he's believed to have "engaged in sexual acts" with a student in a school bathroom.

Brooklyn Park police were called to Champlin Park High School around 12 p.m. Wednesday after a student told staff a "suspicious male" was in the school, a news release says. Staff followed the man out of the school and detained him until police got there.

Police say the man had set up a prearranged encounter with the student and met in the bathroom.

The man was arrested on suspicion of criminal sexual conduct and is being held at the Brooklyn Park Jail. He hasn't been charged.

Police didn't say how old the student was, but KARE 11 is reporting they are also an adult.

Champlin Park High School Principal Mike George addressed this incident in a letter to parents, calling it a "safety concern," noting the man "violated our safety procedures" when he came into the school, and they are reviewing safety procedures, according to WCCO. George noted the man is not associated with the school.

We've reached out to police and the school for more information, and will update the story when additional details are released.
