Police: Man dragged woman out of car at gunpoint, kidnapped her
A man was arrested in Brooklyn Park Saturday after dragging a woman out of her car and kidnapping her at gunpoint.
The incident started just before 1 p.m. on Brooklyn Boulevard and County Road 81, with police receiving a report that one driver had been chasing another.
Witnesses said a man got out of his car and approached the other car, brandishing a handgun and smashing the window out of the victim's car.
"The male suspect then pulled the female victim out of the vehicle and dragged her back into his vehicle and left the scene," Brooklyn Park Police Department said.
By the time police arrived, both the suspect and victim were gone. A short time later, Brooklyn Park PD and Hennepin County Sheriff's deputies found the vehicle in St. Paul, with the suspect and victim both in the car.
The suspect fled in the vehicle however, losing police, who caught up to him again in Fridley, at which point a PIT maneuver was used to stop the vehicle.
The man then fled the scene on foot, a chase lasting several blocks that ended with him barricading himself in an abandoned school bus.
The man eventually surrendered after negotiations with officers, and he was taken into custody.
