Police are asking the public for help in identifying the person seen driving what is believed to a brown or burgundy-colored 1971 Buick LeSabre convertible.

The driver is suspected of shooting a 37-year-old man in the back, resulting serious injuries, in a June 14 incident in St. Paul's Payne-Phalen neighborhood. Not only did the man in the convertible allegedly fire a shot, he did so with a child in the front seat, police said.

In a post to social media on Monday, St. Paul police posted a video surveillance image of the man in the convertible, writing: "Know who drives this sweet car? Call us: 651-266-5650."

Police spokesperson Steve Linders told the Pioneer Press that the man fired the shot over the child, who was in the front passenger seat. Linders added that it was a possible road rage incident, with the man in the convertible becoming upset with the other motorist.

The shooting happened near Jessamine Ave. and Arcade St./Hwy. 61 around 5:35 p.m.
