A 14-year-old boy was the subject of an alleged kidnapping by a man who was paid to pick him up from Texas, but then held him for ransom in Willmar, Minnesota.

The incident was reported Wednesday afternoon, according to Willmar PD, with the caller explaining they'd paid a man to pick up his nephew from Texas and bring him to Willmar.

The man who was being paid then called the boy's uncle, saying he had the teen but needed more money for picking him up.

Police were called and found the boy safe and well at a home in Willmar. He has since been returned to his family.

A short time later, police found the alleged kidnapper in Stearns County, and he's now being held on pending charges of kidnapping for ransom, false imprisonment, and deprivation of parental rights.

Another man was arrested at the same house for violating an order for protection, and violating a domestic abuse "no contact" order.
