Cribbage players can be a competitive lot. But a cribbage game in Rosemount, Minnesota, got more contentious than most.

Rosemount police say Peter Eldon Kvam, 60, is being charged with second-degree assault and one count of terroristic threats, accused of pulling a gun on his neighbor after losing a game of cribbage, WCCO says.

The charges say Rosemount police were called to an apartment complex at about 9 p.m. Friday. A man told police he was playing cribbage with Kvam for money and when Kvam lost the game, he became very upset and pulled a gun out of his sock and pointed it at the victim, according to WCCO. A third person was also present during the game, the Pioneer Press says, and confirmed what the victim had said.

Officers found Kvam, intoxicated, in his own apartment. Kvam told police he got upset over the game and threatened to get a gun, but denied actually doing so, according to the charges, the Pioneer Press says. Kvam told police he had a small black handgun, which police found.

Kvam faces up to 12 years in prison and/or $24,000 in fines, WCCO says. He is scheduled to return to court on June 9, according to the Pioneer Press.
