Police: Man shot in the head by woman in Richfield

A man was shot in the head by a woman early Monday morning at an apartment complex in Richfield. 

The shooting was reported by the woman at 1:57 a.m., saying she shot a man in an apartment on W. 75th St., a block southeast of Richfield Middle School and directly west of Interstate 35W. 

According to police, the man was shot in the head by the woman, who was taken into custody. 

The victim, who was critically injured, was breathing when paramedics transported him to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. His current condition is unknown. 

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit was still at the scene around 8 a.m. 

Police believe the shooting was isolated and there is no threat to the public. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Richfield PD at 612-861-9800.
