A man is in custody after allegedly using an electric scooter to damaging cop cars in Minneapolis on Monday morning.

There were two incidents, according to Minneapolis Police Department. The first was reported at 9:38 a.m. with a caller alerting police about a man attempting to do damage to a squad car parked on 3rd Ave. outside Minneapolis City Hall.

Responding officers found the vehicle had sustained damage to the sideview mirror. The suspect was gone but a white t-shirt was found on the car.

Less than two hours later, at 11:23 a.m., someone called 911 to report a man throwing a Lyft scooter through the windshield of a marked cop car that was parked in the area of 7th St. and Nicollet Ave. The 911 caller noted that the man who threw the scooter then poured liquid onto the car and left.

Witnesses followed the suspect and notified police where he was going, and officers were able to catch him a few blocks from the scene of the incident.

The suspect, who was born in 1989, was arrested and booked into Hennepin County Adult Detention Center for probable cause damage to property.
