Police: Nails, screws thrown on numerous roadways in the northwest metro

Police suspect the nails and screws were purposely thrown onto roads.

Numerous motorists have had the tires on their vehicles punctured by screws and nails that have apparently been dumped on roadways in the northwest metro area. 

According to Big Lake Police Department, the past week has seen numerous reports of nails and screws damaging tires in and around Big Lake, Zimmerman, Orrock and rural Sherburne County roadways. 

Police suspect someone or multiple people have been "throwing screws and nails in the driving lanes."

"This has caused damage to a variety of vehicles including one [SIC] of our squad cars. We are working diligently to try to identify those responsible for this disgusting act, including reviewing video from adjacent businesses," Big Lake PD says. 

Anyone whose vehicle has been damaged in Big Lake is asked to file a report online
