Update: Toddler from Amber Alert found safe, suspect in custody

They fled in a silver Dodge Durango with Minnesota license plate 628 MMM.

The 2 1/2-year-old boy who was abducted in Minneapolis Tuesday morning has been found safe, and the suspect has been taken into custody.

Minneapolis police located the child and the suspect at a home on the 3200 block of Clinton Avenue at 8:45 a.m., about 30 minutes after an Amber Alert was issued, Sgt. Catherine Michal said at a news conference Tuesday (watch it below).

Police said the suspect, who is the boy's father, fled with the toddler and another man after the boy's mother was stabbed in a domestic incident that was reported at 2014 3rd Ave. S. around 5:49 a.m. Tuesday.

The mother suffered a non-life threatening stab wound to her leg. She's being treated at the hospital, where she was reunited with her son.

The suspect is in custody and is being questioned by police. The suspect hasn't been officially charged, but Sgt. Michal says he could be charged with felony domestic assault. Other charges are possible, with Michal noting it's still an active investigation.

The man who was with the suspect has been located, but has not been arrested.

Michal said this was the "very best possible outcome" for this situation. She thanked the people who reported the incident right away, noting witnesses were able to give a detailed description of the suspect's vehicle, which allowed the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to issue an Amber Alert.

An Amber Alert was issued after authorities say a toddler was taken by two men, after the child's mother was stabbed early Tuesday.

Minneapolis police are looking for the public's help to find 2 1/2-year-old Harlen Vontrel Hulbert, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says. He was taken by 26-year-old Hershel "Herlsey" Theo Hulbert and another man after the stabbing, which happened at 5:49 a.m. at 2014 of 3rd Ave. S., officials say.

Sgt. Catherine Michal of the Minneapolis Police Department told GoMN it was a domestic incident, and the child's mother suffered a non-life threatening stab wound to the leg. She's being treated at the hospital.

They fled in a silver 1999 Dodge Durango with Minnesota license plate 628 MMM. The SUV looks like this:

Harlen is described as having dark skin, black hair that's braided, brown eyes, and is wearing a red and gray shirt and blue jeans. Hershel Hulbert, who is the child's non-custodial parent and the woman's ex-boyfriend, is described as being 5-foot-9, with brown eyes and short black hair.

The second man, who hasn't been named, is described as being 5-foot-10, with dark skin and his hair in braids. He is armed with a gun, Minneapolis police said on Facebook.

If you see them, call 911 right away and don't approach them.
