Police: One shot dead after fight in north Minneapolis

Police responded to a fatal shooting in North Minneapolis early Wednesday morning.

Minneapolis Police Department officers responded to a shooting at 12:24 a.m. on the 2900 block of Girard Avenue North in the city’s Jordan neighborhood. A male victim was found suffering a gunshot wound and was loaded into an ambulance.

The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at North Memorial Medical Center.

The area was cordoned off and investigators from the department’s Homicide Unit and Crime Lab personnel were called in. Officers also spoke with several people in the area.

According to a release from MPD, the initial investigation indicates an altercation between two people. Shots were fired and the suspect fled the scene.
