A body was pulled from the Mississippi River in Minneapolis on Sunday afternoon.
The discovery was made around 4:15 p.m., with Minneapolis public safety officials asking for help from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office in recovering the body.
The body was found in the river near East 44th Street and West River Road.
The Hennepin County Water Patrol recovered the body with the help of Minneapolis Fire Department.
"Our investigators will be working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to help identify the person and to determine how the body came to be in the river,” said Hennepin County Sheriff Dave Hutchinson.
"At this point, the investigation is in the very early stages, so we have very little information to go on. We will keep the public informed as we have further information."
It's the second body pulled from the river within the space of a week.
Last Sunday, Feb. 23, a body was found in ice on the river near the Franklin Avenue Bridge.
