Police: Robbery may have led to deadly shooting in north Minneapolis home

A man was found dead inside a home after a report of shots fired.

Homicide detectives are working a case in north Minneapolis after a man was found dead inside a residence Monday evening.

Minneapolis Police Department reports that officers were sent to a home on the 1400 block of 17th Ave. N. around 6:50 p.m. on a report of a shooting. They arrived and found a man dead inside the home.

Suspects fled the residence prior to the police arriving, but preliminary information from the investigation suggests the victim and suspects knew each other and that a robbery may have led to the shooting.

The scene was processed by the Minneapolis Crime Lab and detectives interviewed people in the area and gathered video, according to a release from MPD.

The identity of the victim, as well as manner and cause of death, have not been released.

Anyone with information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a financial reward. To submit an anonymous tip, one can do so by phone at 1-800-222-8477 or online through CrimeStoppersMN.
