Police: Rochester man dies after car turns in front of motorcycle

A 28-year-old Rochester man was killed when the motorcycle he was driving crash into a car that attempted to turn in front of him. 

According to Rochester Police Department, the fatal crash happened around 8:10 a.m. Wednesday at N. Broadway Ave. and Riverview Heights Dr. Police say 28-year-old Rodney Dwayne Gates was riding a motorcycle north on Broadway Ave. when a Toyota Prius pulled out of Gentling Dental Care and hit him. 

First responders attempted life-saving efforts but Gates was pronounced dead at the scene. 

ABC 6 reports that the 22-year-old Rochester woman driving the Prius was attempting to turn left and didn't see the motorcycle. Police say there were no indicators of impairment and charges have not been filed. 

Gates was not wearing a helmet, police say. 

The Post-Bulletin reports that Gates was driving a custom green motorcycle that he was considering purchasing from an acquaintance.
