Police say a 38-year-old Rochester man was shot in the head and killed while answering his door on Monday.

According the Rochester Police Department, officers responded to a reported shooting at 1915 Marion Road SE, Lot #14 at 4:01 a.m. Officers arrived and found a man lying inside the back door of the residence with a gunshot wound to his head.

Life-saving efforts were made but the victim, identified as Brandon Matthew Arndt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Very few details are available, but the 911 caller, who also lives at the residence, told investigators that someone knocked on the back door and when Arndt answered he heard a loud bang.

Rochester PD's Captain of Investigations, John Sherwin, tells BMTN that they are "actively working the case and seeking any additional witnesses or people who may have information in regard."

Anyone with information can call them at 507-328-6800, or call anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
