Update: Man wanted in woman's overdose death is now in custody

Authorities had asked for help locating Victor Wayne Lynch.

The man wanted in connection with a woman's overdose death is now in custody.

The Roseville Police Department said Victor Wayne Lynch was arrested Friday afternoon at a home in Circle Pines.

Authorities said Tuesday Lynch was wanted on two counts of third-degree murder (the Pioneer Press has details from the charges here), on accusations he supplied and administered the drugs that killed a woman in a hotel room in October.

That woman, 20-year-old Trina Maurstad, died of a toxic drug mix, including heroin and methamphetamine. Fentanyl was also found in a urine sample, according to officials.

But Friday afternoon, the Centennial Lakes Police Department got a call about a disturbance at a Circle Pines home, and learned Lynch might be hiding inside. More law enforcement agencies showed up, and other people inside the home confirmed Lynch was in there – but he initially didn't come out.

Lynch finally emerged after Fridley police warned they would be releasing a K9. He was then arrested and booked without any further incident.

He's expected to be in court next week.

Mausrtad had three boys, according to her obituary, with her family writing they will "miss [her] beautiful smile."

The original story from Tuesday, Feb. 7, is below.

Roseville police are asking for the public's help finding a man wanted in connection with a woman's suspected overdose death.

The police department said in a news release Tuesday 50-year-old Victor Wayne Lynch is wanted on two counts of third-degree murder. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

It comes after a discovery at a Roseville hotel on Oct. 10, 2016. According to the Roseville Police Department:

First responders found 20-year-old Trina Maurstad unconscious and not breathing, with drug paraphernalia in the room. Responders tried life-saving efforts, including the use of the overdose-reversal drug Narcan, but were unsuccessful. She was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy found she died of a toxic drug mix, including heroin and methamphetamine. Fentanyl was also found in a urine sample.

Police at the time identified Lynch, and an unnamed 28-year-old witness, as being in the hotel room with Maurstad. Three days later that witness came to authorities and said they saw Lynch mix and give Maurstad the drugs. The witness, after multiple rounds of drug injections in the hotel room, said Maurstad at one point locked up, began having a seizure and was grinding her teeth. The witness then called 911.

Roseville police have worked on the case since.

Investigators found hypodermic needles with a substance in them that later tested positive for heroin, methamphetamine and fentanyl. A search warrant later led to video on Lynch's phone, showing him weighing heroin on a scale while others – including children – were around.

Lynch is described as being about 5-foot-10 and 218 pounds, with a bald head and hazel eyes. If anyone knows his whereabouts, police ask them not to approach – instead, call 911.

If convicted on the third-degree murder charges, he could face up to 25 years in prison and/or a max $40,000 fine for each count.
