Minneapolis Police Department is asking the public to help in an investigation involving several assaults of women in Minneapolis, the most recent of which happened Tuesday in broad daylight.

"We are appealing to everyone who works, lives and frequents our area to help us in this investigation as well as to help prevent any further attacks on our neighbors," said MPD spokesperson John Elder.

On Tuesday, at approximately 10:30 a.m., an unknown male attempted to sexually assault a woman as she sat in her car in a Dinkytown neighborhood, according to Elder. Fortunately, the woman was able to fight the attacker off and flee to safety.

The attacker is described as a white man, 30-40 years old with a possible beard. He had a hoodie pulled up over his head and was wearing dark-colored pants.

"We believe this individual is responsible for similar assaults in metro Minneapolis since 2018," said Elder.

Police advise everyone to remain alert, especially in parking lots, alleyways and parking garages.

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is urged to contact the Minneapolis Police Department tip line at 612-692-8477, or make contact anonymously through CrimeStoppers

"Regardless of how insignificant you feel this info may be, or whether you think we are already aware of it, please let us assess its importance," said Elder.
