A 19-year-old was arrested after the shooting death of a 50-year-old St. Paul man – the culmination of a series of events that police now believe started as a case of road rage, the Pioneer Press reports.

The fatal shooting of Jeffery Thomas Elling occurred at about 3 a.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of York Avenue on the city's East Side, the newspaper reports.

KARE 11 says Aloeng Kelly Vang, 19, has been charged with second-degree murder.

KARE 11 has more details from a criminal complaint. The complaint says Elling went to Vang's home and confronted him about erratic driving, and eventually pushed Vang.

Vang soon after went to Elling's home and shot him, according to the complaint, KARE reports. Witnesses said Vang appeared to be intoxicated.

The number of people nationwide who admit they feel “uncontrollable anger toward another driver” has doubled since 2005, the Washington Post reported this week.

Late last year, a 62-year-old man went to the hospital with a broken nose and wrist after a fight in Eagan that had begun as a road rage incident.

Another road rage incident last fall ended with a shooting in the Isanti Police Department parking lot. A 71-year-old was arrested.

No Minnesota cities landed on a Forbes list earlier this spring that ranked the most frustrating cities for drivers. But one list several years ago put Minneapolis as the No. 5 worst city for road rage, behind New York, Dallas, Detroit and Atlanta.
