A terrifying incident in Brooklyn Park saw a woman kidnapped and subjected to an attempted rape, police say.

The 25-year-old victim was returning her cart in the parking lot of the Aldi store at 7600 Brooklyn Boulevard on the evening of May 12 when an unknown, teenage male ran up behind her.

He threatened her with a knife, forcing her to drive to a location in Brooklyn Center where she says he tried to sexually assault her, a press release from Brooklyn Park police says.

She was able to escape the attempted rape and call 911, with police saying the incident happened around 8:10 p.m.

The suspect is a teenage, black male, about 5'4" tall with a slender build. He was wearing a black zip-up jacket with no design on the front, as well as possibly blue jeans and dark-colored tennis shoes.

He covered his nose and mouth with a royal blue bandana.

The suspect could be as young as 14 years old, police told FOX 9.

Brooklyn Park Deputy Police Chief Mark Bruley said the attack was "brazen," saying the fact it's a stranger abduction makes it particularly concerning.

They are examining video footage, which is expected to be shared more widely wants it has been cut down in size.

Anyone with information should call Detective Russ Czapar at 763-493-8287.
