An abduction of two teenagers led to a high-speed chase and crash on Hwy. 100 on Sunday night.

According to Hopkins Police Department, the incident began around 8 p.m. at a residence in the 400 block of Blake Road when someone reported that two teens, ages 15 and 19, were forced into a van by unknown suspects. One of the suspects was believed to have a weapon and threatened to harm one of the teens.

The van took off from the scene and was later spotted by St. Louis Park officers. A pursuit began and the van topped 100 mph on Hwy. 100 before crashing near Interstate 394.

Five juvenile suspects in the vehicle were taken into custody and checked for injuries at a hospital. All five were released with two of them being booked into Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center pending formal charges.

The two teen victims were able to escape the van at some point, although one of them required treatment at a hospital for minor injuries.

The identities of the suspects and victims have not been released.

More information will be provided during a press conference on Monday afternoon.
