Police: 'We do not believe ... speed was a factor' in construction zone crash
Investigators tell Fox 9 they do not think a driver was speeding when he lost control, crashed into a construction zone and killed two workers on 35W in Burnsville.
MPR takes a detailed look at the State Patrol's report. The driver reportedly slowed as he approached the work zone, but felt he was too close to the construction wall. He braked hard and turned too sharply before losing control of the vehicle.
One of the workers died at the scene. Another was severely hurt and died at Hennepin County Medical Center. The two men were doing electrical work for a new MnPass lane at the time of the crash.
"He was a very good husband and very good father," the wife of one of the men told Kare 11.
