Police: Woman found dead, man critical at Coon Rapids apartment

A 34-year-old woman is dead and a 24-year-old man in a critical condition after an incident at an apartment in Coon Rapids that is being investigated as a homicide.

At 1:45 a.m. Thursday morning, police responded to 9280 University Ave. NW after a caller reported a man with obvious signs of injury in the entryway of an apartment complex, according to an Anoka County Sheriff's Office press release .

The responding officers then found a woman dead inside one of the apartments.

Police said they have determined that there was a relationship between the two, and that they don't believe there is a third party involved.

The man, who has no permanent address, is in critical condition at Mercy Hospital. Police also confirmed that the woman was a resident of the apartment complex.

The identities of the parties and cause of death and injury have not been released.

The case is being investigated by the Coon Rapids Police Department, the Anoka County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
