Update: Edina man did not abduct woman rescued by troopers
More details are emerging about the case of a 19-year-old woman who told authorities that a 32-year-old Edina man she had met online took her against her will Tuesday before she was able to text for help from the vehicle as it sped westbound on Interstate near Eau Claire.
Initially, it was reported that the woman had said she was abducted, but that is not exactly the case, investigators said Wednesday, the Associated Press reported.
The AP says the man had told the woman that he would take her to the Mall of America, but then changed the plan, and when they stopped he began to caress her.
She had texted for help, and when they stopped at a rest stop near Elk Mound, she told the man she had to go to the bathroom, and troopers arrested the man, the Star Tribune reported.
Troopers apprehended the man there and took him to Eau Claire County jail. He was charged with disorderly conduct, the AP reported.
