A woman has been arrested after stealing a police vehicle, fleeing at dangerous speeds on I-94 near Monticello Friday morning, and then biting a trooper.
The Wright County Sheriff's Office says the incidents began at 7 a.m. when a 911 caller reported a distressed, partially-clothed woman who knocked at his door in Monticello Township asking to use his phone before running towards a neighboring home.
Moments later, another 911 call from the same area came in, with the caller saying the partially-clothed woman was inside her home.
Deputies responded and found the woman outside the caller's home, at which point she ran back inside and grabbed a knife. While the deputy was trying to calm the woman down, she jumped out a window and stole the deputy's squad car.
More deputies and troopers from the Minnesota State Patrol chased the suspect along I-94 westbound before they used stop sticks to disable the vehicle near County Road 75, which is just southeast of St. Cloud.
The woman then fled the stolen squad car and tried opening the doors of vehicles on eastbound I-94 that had slowed near the scene.
Fortunately, authorities arrested her before she was able to steal another vehicle.
But her arrest wasn't without further incident, as one state trooper was bitten by the woman, the state patrol told Bring Me The News. The trooper was taken to St. Cloud Hospital to treat the minor injury and released.
The identity of the suspect has not been released.
