Possible explosion reported at Albertville Outlet Mall

Witnesses described seeing a flash and hearing an explosion.

State and federal authorities are investigating a suspected explosion in a garbage can at the Albertville Outlet Mall.

The incident happened 8:41 p.m. Friday at the popular shopping center, with police finding a garbage can that had been damaged outside the Nike Factory Store.

Witnesses told police they saw a "flash" and then heard an explosion from the can.

There were no reported injuries, but there was some slight damage to the outside of the building.

The incident is being investigated by the Wright County Sheriff's Office, the Minnesota State Fire Marshall, and the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives).

"If you were at the Outlet Mall and feel you may have witnessed something related to this incident or you believe you may have any information about this incident, you are asked to contact ... 763-682-1162," the sheriff's office said.
