For a self-taught photographer from rural Minnesota, Caroline Jensen is keeping some illustrious company.

The mother of four from Westbrook, in southwest Minnesota, is one of only 21 photographers selected in the country to join the exclusive Sony Artisans of Imagery program.

Artisans are given the task of promoting Sony's Alpha cameras and get to test top secret new products from the electronics giant's photographic department, according to the Worthington Daily Globe.

She is in esteemed company, with her fellow artisans including multiplatinum recording artist and keen photographer Ben Folds, Pulitzer Prize winner Brian Smith, and Sports Illustrated snapper Patrick Murphy-Racey, according to Imaging Resource.

Jensen has carved out a niche for herself from her home in the countryside, and having initially started by doing family photography, she is now using her camera to document life on the prairie, the Daily Globe says.

What's more, she is passing on the skills she has developed to help others through online classes and seminars she leads on photography education website Clickin Moms.

Her work is also currently on display at Shop 88 in Scottsdale, Arizona, her first gallery showing.

She is all too happy to promote the virtues of Sony cameras, because if it wasn't for them then she might have struggled to continue her work. She had stopped working with her old Canon camera because the weight of it was causing her health problems.

By the time she tried her Sony camera, she was doing much of her work with her iPhone, the Daily Globe notes.

Her story played a big role in her selection for the Sony program after a chance meeting at Clickin Moms conference called Click Away.

On her website, she says: "I had the pleasure of meeting the director of the Sony Artisans of Imagery program, Kayla Lindquist, at Click Away this year. I told her how my photography has changed drastically since I switched to the the smaller and lighter Alpha system.

"Back and neck problems had caused me to drop my daily shooting and finding this lightweight system ... was a dream come true.

"I am proud to share the message of Sony and thrilled to share my reviews and tips."
